Chem 201 Lab
Introduction to Chemical Thermodynamics
|
This lab focuses on the determination of some fundamental thermodynamic topics such as the heat capacity of gases, change in entropy, change in enthalpy, phase diagram determination for liquid-liquid or solid-liquid binary system, and molar mass of an unknown compound. Students will be introduced to such techniques as solution calorimetry, bomb calorimetry, conductivity, and freezing-point determination, and dilute solution viscosity. Other topics covered include a review of how to write an experimental lab report and basic computer and spreadsheet operation using assigned problems.
