My research and writing activity has been in several areas including political leadership, educational issues, early achievement and individual life span, classroom dynamics, mass responses to threatening circumstances, and others over the years. More recently, however, my efforts have been channelled into three categories. The first focuses on my own precocity-longevity hypothesis, which essentially states that generally those who strive to reach career peaks early may have a personality and an approach to life that fosters behaviours that have a cumulative negative impact upon health and eventually lead to earlier death. The second centres on the dynamic relationship of widely experienced social, economic, and political threats and stressors to outcome variables in several societal domains. The nature of the links between threat and authoritarian tendencies at the macrosocial-psychological level is of special interest. The third is concerned with the simple and interactive relationships of various personological and situational factors to political leadership variables.
